In fact, getting happiness is very simple. They just need less some stuff, stress and debt, then imagine life with more meaningful relationships and more contribution and contentment. For example, we can spend more time with family, or even take some time to improve yourself.
In conclusion, I think people’s happiness index and consumption should be based on conditions permitting and necessary.
